The pleasure of orchid growing is not just in buying an exotic plant from the nursery. The pleasure is when the orchids grow in your home and reward you back with flowers!

Orchids and the love for them begins with the first one. When we saw them in a store, we decided to give it a shot. This turned out to be a life changer for us. The first plant (who is still the King of our orchid jungle), grew quite well. We spent a lot of time in figuring out what our orchid wanted. Then we bought a few more, and a few more.
In our pursuit for more exotic varieties, we started buy some species, different genus and more plants in all. As we bought more complex plants, realization dawned. Orchids are plants which come from the jungle, need a specific micro-environment (read our previous blogs for more on that) and we did not want to have a green house and create an entirely artificial environment for them. Then again we still wanted more orchids, which would grow easily.

The pleasure of orchid growing is not just in buying an exotic plant from the nursery. The pleasure is when the orchids grow in your home and reward you back with flowers!

Then we started experimenting with various types of plants. We found that various hybrids and species were there which needed very little care but still offered us a variety.
That's the learning that we decided to use to launch our easy to grow orchids - The Urban Orchids. Our plants are sourced from various places but are the below basic characteristics:
  1. We sell only these easy to grow plants. If you want very complex greenhouse plants, we take individual orders based on availability.
  2. Each orchid is handpicked so the plant is healthy when they are sold.
  3. Our plants are treated with both biological and nano growth agents. These continue to work on the plant even after they come to your home making them grow better.
  4. When you buy a plant, it comes in a pot with suitable potting. Our orchids can be grown as they are for a year or two. If you need help with repotting after that, we are happy to help you with that.
We continue to scout for plants which are easy to grow and keep bringing in new varieties for our customers. In the future, we would introduce a separate range of more advanced plants but our focus will always remain on easy to grow plants which bloom frequently.
If you have bought orchids and not been able to get them to bloom again or if the plant is doing badly, try one of our Urban Orchids. You will know what the difference is. Meanwhile, you can also write to us with a picture of your plant at theurbanorchid@gmail.com for help.
